Twitteratti give thumbs up to odd-even, few brickbats too
New Delhi, April 15: The Delhi government's odd-even traffic regulation scheme that commenced on Friday to bring the national capital's pollution under control received a huge support on social media with majority of twitteratti bracing up the initiative.
Abhishek Gupta, a cricketer who has played for the national under-19 team, supported the government's move.

"##RRoads are so empty with young volunteers stand aside of the roads holding roses but finding only few offenders. #OddEvenBegins##," he tweeted.
Chartered accountant Anurag Pandey said there were no traffic congestions on the roads.
"##OddEvenBegins Wow...Awesome experience on road No traffic congestion.. Looks as its saturday-sunday even in peak hours Thx @ArvindKejriwal##" Pandey tweeted.
Dentist Asif Chaudhary also tweeted in support of the odd-even scheme, posting pictures from various parts of the national capital on his handle.
"##OddEvenBegins: Delhi roads are comparatively clear and less congested##" Chaudhary said.
Engineer Abhinav Rao extended his support for the Delhi government's scheme.
"Politically, the best part of OddEven is that No other politician understands how to be bold enough to execute such a thing. #OddEvenBegins#" Rao said.
However, the move drew some brickbats too, with people opposing the odd-even traffic plan.
Ashish Gupta expressed his resentment with scheme saying, "#OddEvenKaRaita #OddEvenBegins is a failure despite big advt n crores of tax payers money spent ..@upma23##
Jatinder Kumar, a student, raised the issue of huge increase in number of people who were fined for not following the traffic norms established under the new scheme.
"Just In - Out of 511 drivers fined #OddEvenBegins 129 from south Delhi, 108 from west Delhi. Maximum caught around BRT,#" Kumar said in his tweet.
A youngster, Divyanshu Sharma insisted that the government must improve the public transport than promote such an inconvenient traffic scheme.
"It's better if Shri Shri Shri Kejriwal focus on improving the public transport and give this gimmick some rest. #OddEvenBegins#," Sharma said.
Many Aam Aadmi Party leaders from Delhi and other states, including Transport Minister Gopal Rai, Somnath Bharti, journalist turned politician Ashutosh and the party's convener in Punjab Sucha Singh Chhotepur, hailed the second edition of odd-even traffic restrictions in Delhi.
