TTV Dinakaran invites Panneerselvam to join AIADMK

The statement has come two days after a prominent AIADMK MLA claimed that if the former chief minister apologised, the party would forgive him

Is the Sasikala camp of AIADMK trying to bury the hatchet with former chief minister Panneerselvam? That seems to be the case if TTV Dinakaran's invite to Panneerselvam to join the AIADMK is anything to go by.

Speaking to the media after taking charge as the deputy general secretary of the AIADMK, Sasikala's nephew and current deputy general secretary of the AIADMK Dinakaran invited Panneerselvam to join the party. While refusing to speak about Deepa Jayakumar, Dinakaran claimed that DMK was their primary rival. "I invite Panneerselvam to join the AIADMK. DMK is our first rival and we will ensure that the golden rule of Amma will continue in Tamil Nadu. Under the guidance of Chinnamma, this party will work for the people of Tamil Nadu," he said in his maiden address to the media as deputy general secretary, a post that was specially created for him before Sasikala went to jail.

His statement comes just two days after an AIADMK MLA Thanga Tamilselvam claimed that the AIADMK would forgive Panneerselvem (/india/party-will-forgive-ops-if-he-apologises-aiadmk-mla-2355194.html) if he apologised. TTV Dinakaran's statement and attempt to reconcile with Panneerselvam only hints at their acknowledgement of a divided cadre. The united strength of the cadre is vital for the AIADMK that is preparing to fight anti-incumbency and the rise of DMK under the leadership of M K Stalin.

Dinakaran was present at the party headquarters on the eve of Jayalalithaa's birth anniversary as he took office but Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy was not in attendance.
