Jharkhand Family Mourns as Young Man Dies in Kuwait Fire
Tragedy struck the family of Md Ali Hussain, a 24-year-old from Ranchi, who lost his life in a devastating fire in Kuwait, leaving his family and community in mourning. Hussain, the youngest of three siblings, had left for Kuwait 18 days ago, aiming to support his family back in India. This journey marked his first time leaving the country, with hopes pinned on a new job opportunity as a salesman.

Mubarak Hussain, 57, the bereaved father, recounted the harrowing moment he learned of his son's demise through a colleague of his son in Kuwait. The news was so devastating that Mubarak hesitated for hours before sharing it with his wife. The family is now grappling with grief and an urgent plea to the Indian government for assistance in repatriating their son's remains.
The fire that claimed Hussain's life erupted in a building in Mangaf, a southern city in Kuwait. It resulted in the tragic loss of 49 foreign workers, including approximately 40 Indians. Reports suggest that most fatalities were due to smoke inhalation after the blaze started in a kitchen. The building, rented by the construction firm NBTC group for its workers, housed over 195 individuals from various Indian states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and several northern regions.
Mubarak Hussain shared insights into his son's aspirations and the sudden decision to move abroad. Md Ali Hussain was pursuing a certified management accountant (CMA) course following his graduation and had expressed his desire to work in Kuwait out of the blue. Mubarak, who runs a small business dealing with vehicle tyres in Ranchi, also mentioned that his elder son is employed in another Gulf country.
The incident has cast a spotlight on the safety and well-being of Indian workers abroad, especially those in the Gulf region where many seek employment opportunities. The loss of Md Ali Hussain is not just a personal tragedy for his family but also raises concerns about the conditions under which Indian expatriates work and live in foreign countries.
The family's immediate concern is the repatriation of Hussain's body to India, a request that underscores the profound impact of such incidents on the lives of those left behind. As they navigate through this difficult time, the support from both Indian and Kuwaiti authorities will be crucial in bringing closure to the grieving family.
This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the risks faced by migrant workers and the importance of ensuring their safety and rights are protected while abroad. The community stands in solidarity with the Hussain family during this challenging period, hoping for swift action from officials to address their plea.
