Thane: Boy on way to school crushed to death by truck

Thane, July 16: A class X student was killed after being run over by a truck in Boisar area of the district this morning, police said.

While Ashish Amar Yadav (14) was going to Dr S D Vartak School on his bicycle, he lost balance of the two-wheeler when it hit a deep pothole, caused by heavy rains, in front of the railway truck terminal in the area, Boisar police station constable R R Dange said.

As the boy fell on the ground, a truck passing by ran over him, killing him on the spot, he said. The truck driver has been arrested and charge under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC, Dange added.
