Failed Suicide attempts, obesity and sudden demise: A troubled life of Telugu actress Aarthi Agarwal

Hyderabad, June 8: Aarthi Agarwal's sudden demise at the age of 30 shocked many. Weeks after a liposuction cosmetic surgery, the Telugu actress died in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Saturday, June 6.

An American of Indian origin, Aarthi had sought to fame with Telugu movies. She had acted in leading roles opposite to famous actors, such as, Venkatesh, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Ravi Teja, Mahesh Babu and NTR Jr. She also had acted in a Hindi film.

However, life was not easy for 30-year-old Aarthi, she had led a troubled life. The actress reportedly had tried to commit suicide in 2005. It was reported that the actress wanted to kill herself following her break-up with co-star Tarun.

She had consumed cleaning fluid. Just one year after her first suicide attempt, the actress Once again was admitted to hospital in Hyderabad in 2006. It was speculated she had tried to kill herself for the second time.

The Tollywood actress later got married to NRI software engineer Tasval Kumar in 2007. She left her acting career behind and was settled in US.

However, her marriage came to an end when she divorced him in 2009. Later she had developed several health issues. After her sudden demise on Saturday, her manager in Hyderabad said, Aarthi was battling obesity and pulmonary illness. She was undergoing treatment and due to some complications, she suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away."

However, many other reports claimed that she might have died due to complications in the liposuction surgery. Aarthi also had suffered from asthma for several years.

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery operation that removes fat from many different sites on the human body. Meanwhile, The Hindu quoted Vijayawada-based cosmetic surgeon K Srikrishna as saying, "In the case of Aarti Agarwal, if death happened immediately after surgery, it has been be due to fat embolism. If it happened after a week or 10 days, it could be because of infection."
