Jana Nayagan Advance Booking In Chennai: When Will It Begin In Tamil Nadu Capital?

The advance booking of tickets for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's last movie Jana Nayagan has begun in Bengaluru and a few overseas centers, but it has not commenced in the actor-turned-politician's home territory - Tamil Nadu.

The fans of Vijay are eager to reserve their tickets considering the massive hype around the movie even as the advance booking has commenced in neighbouring Bengaluru and tickets are selling like hotcakes despite humongous price for the 6 am shows.

Industry insiders say that the makers will open advance booking in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu on Sunday, July 19. "Whenever the advance booking opens for a big movie, there are times when ticket-booking platforms like Boom My Show crashing. Tomorrow might become one such day as Vijay fans are desperately waiting for the advance booking to begin," trade tracker Trinath says.

In Bengaluru, the prices of movie tickets for the 6 am shows range from Rs 800 to Rs 1800. Tickets for the special shows have already been sold out in many single screens including Brundha, Sri Thirumala, V Cinemas, Swagath Shankarnag, Sampige, Pushpanjali, Siddheshwara, Urvashi, Srinivasa Theater, Mahadeshwara Cinema, and Aruna Theatre.

However, the full-fledged booking is yet to commence in Karnataka.

In Tamil Nadu, there is a cap on movie tickets. Hence, the makers cannot sell it at exorbitant rates like in Karnataka. "In other states, there is flexible ticket pricing, so we see tickets being sold at Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 in states like Karnataka. However, in Tamil Nadu, there is fixed pricing, and we can't sell a ticket for more than Rs 190. And this is the price at which the tickets will be sold here. With Vijay being a big star in Tamil Nadu and now Chief Minister, we are expecting the movie to do well," Tamil film financier and distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam told NDTV.

H Vinoth-directorial movie is expected to release in 30 countries on over 8000 screens on July 23, according to reports. Originally, Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol-starrer was supposed to be released on January 9 for Pongal festival. It was delayed at the last minute due to censor-related issues.
