Tamil Film Producer Smuggles Rs 2000 Crore Drugs To Australia, New Zealand In A Dramatic Way

A Tamil film producer decided to do more than just make movies - he led a group that made a lot of money by selling drugs.

According to the reports, the gang used a filmy method to send a chemical called pseudoephedrine, used to make methamphetamine, to several countries including New Zealand and Australia. With this illegal business, the filmmaker and his allies made around Rs 2,000 crore in three years.

The mastermind Tamil filmmaker behind the organized crime is currently absconding.

The reports added that the accused were used to hide drugs in coconut powder or health mixes. Methamphetamine is a drug that many people want, and it is quite expensive in many countries.

Gyaneshwar Singh, Deputy Director General of NCB told the media, "After inputs from the US Drug Enforcement Administration indicated that the consignments were being sent from Delhi, a joint team of the Delhi police special cell and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was constituted. After four months of intensive technical and field surveillance, it was learned that these operatives were in Delhi again and were trying to send another consignment to Australia."

The police caught them in a warehouse in West Delhi. They were trying to hide the pseudoephedrine in a food mix. The police arrested three drug dealers and seized around 50 kg of the chemical from them.

During the investigation, the accused admitted that they sent 45 shipments in the last three years, which calculates to around 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine worth Rs 2,000 crore.

Reports added that the police is trying hard to catch the Tamil filmmaker to find out the roots of the crime and from where the pseudoephedrine is coming.

The Indian authorities are also working with New Zealand and Australian police to catch the receivers of drug shipments overseas.
