"At the time of admission, the patient was in a critical state. She had lung failure and was on high frequency ventilator support. Her diagnosis at Ghaziabad and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital confirmed it to be a case of swine flu," Hospital Spokesperson Ajoy Sehgal said.

"Inspite of the best efforts of doctors, the patient expired on the morning of December 24," he said.

After birds in Sukhna Lake have been tested as Avian Flu and reports of over 300 crows dying under mysterious circumstances, city of Chandigarh was placed on high alert against the deadly Swine Flu virus.

Doctors are alarmed with the dropping temperature as Swine Flu survives longer in such climatic conditions. Asking the citizens to keep cool, the doctors said that precautions are necessary balanced diet, plenty of sleep and lots of fluids and fruits. Basic hygiene like frequent washing is also essential.

Dozens of domestic geese who were killed in Sukhna lake were tested positive for the dreaded virus. Following this, the lake has been closed to the public.

However, no individual tested positive for the Avian Flu in Chandigarh, emergence of case from Delhi will certainly shock Delhiites in the festive season.
