Swine flu scare continues! Deadly virus takes 51-year-old woman's life in Delhi
New Delhi, Dec 26: A 51-year-old woman died of swine flu at a private hospital in Delhi, doctors said on Friday. The deceased was a resident of East Model Town in Ghaziabad. She was admitted to the ICU of Ganga Ram Hospital in a serious condition on December 21.
"Inspite of the best efforts of doctors, the patient expired on the morning of December 24," he said.
The woman was earlier treated at Yashoda Hospital in Ghaziabad and then shifted to Columbia Asia Hospital in Gurgaon.
After birds in Sukhna Lake have been tested as Avian Flu and reports of over 300 crows dying under mysterious circumstances, city of Chandigarh was placed on high alert against the deadly Swine Flu virus.
Doctors are alarmed with the dropping temperature as Swine Flu survives longer in such climatic conditions. Asking the citizens to keep cool, the doctors said that precautions are necessary balanced diet, plenty of sleep and lots of fluids and fruits. Basic hygiene like frequent washing is also essential.
Dozens of domestic geese who were killed in Sukhna lake were tested positive for the dreaded virus. Following this, the lake has been closed to the public.
However, no individual tested positive for the Avian Flu in Chandigarh, emergence of case from Delhi will certainly shock Delhiites in the festive season.
