Opposition Leaders Join School Job Aspirants' Protest in Kolkata, Sparking Speculations of Covert Alliance Against TMC
BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari and Congress leader Kaustav Bagchi participated in a protest rally organised by aspiring candidates for school jobs in West Bengal. Their participation has triggered accusations from the ruling TMC of a covert alliance among the CPIM, Congress, and BJP.
The political landscape of West Bengal witnessed an interesting development on September 27, when BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari and Congress leader Kaustav Bagchi joined a protest rally organized by aspiring candidates for school jobs. The event took place at Camac Street in South Kolkata, close to the office of TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. This unexpected alliance has led to accusations from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) party of a covert coalition among the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Congress, and the BJP.
Protest Against Alleged Corruption

The primary focus of the protest was alleged corruption within the TMC government affecting job aspirants for schools. "The school job aspirants, who are suffering due to the corruption of the TMC government, have organised a protest rally and have invited me to participate in it as the leader of opposition in assembly," stated Adhikari addressing reporters at the scene. He further added that anyone keen on fighting against TMC's misrule and alleged corruption is welcome to join such demonstrations.
A United Front Against Corruption?
Bagchi echoed similar sentiments regarding his participation in this protest. He expressed no reservations about participating in any rally or programme against what he perceives as corrupt practices within TMC's governance structure. He said: "I have no qualms walking with Suvendu Adhikari against the TMC government." At this demonstration, alongside posters criticising TMC were placards promoting an 'INDIA' alliance - hinting at possible future collaborations between these seemingly disparate political entities.
An Unlikely Alliance?
This joint appearance by leaders from two different parties has sparked speculation about potential alliances forming ahead of future elections. It also raises questions regarding whether these parties are willing to set aside their ideological differences in order to combat what they perceive as a common enemy - the ruling TMC party. However, it remains unclear whether this is a one-off incident or an indication of more concerted efforts towards collaboration in the future.
In conclusion, this protest rally has stirred up the political dynamics within West Bengal, with accusations of covert alliances and potential collaborations making headlines. The participation of BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari and Congress leader Kaustav Bagchi in a protest against alleged corruption within the TMC government signals a possible shift in political strategies. While it's too early to predict how this will impact upcoming elections, it certainly adds another layer of complexity to West Bengal's already vibrant political scene.
