Sunanda Pushkar death case: Patiala House Court directs police to de-seal hotel room
Room no. 345 of Hotel Leela Palace has been closed since 2014 and the Police have no clue so far how Sunanda, wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor died.
A Delhi court on Friday directed Delhi Police to de-seal room no.345 of Hotel Leela Palace in four weeks, where Sunanda Pushkar was found dead.
The court pulled up the city police for the slow-paced investigation into the case.
The Patiala House Court said,' "The Hotel cannot face continuous hardship due to lethargy on the part of the Delhi Police."
Room no. 345 of Hotel Leela Palace has been closed since 2014 and the Police have no clue so far how Sunanda, wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor died.
Yesterday the court had asked the city police to file a status report with regard to the ongoing probe.
A bench of Justices G S Sistani and Chander Shekhar directed police to place within three days their report during a hearing of Subramanian Swamy's plea for a court-monitored probe by the CBI-led SIT into the matter.
The direction was issued by the bench after Delhi Police standing counsel Rahul Mehra informed the court that the status report of the investigating agency has been given to him in the court room so he wants to go through it before placing it on record.
Swamy had alleged that "inordinate delay" has been caused in the investigation "which is a blot on the justice system".
