Students ransack University of Hyderabad VC Appa Rao's office as he resumes work
Hyderabad, Mar 22: Unruly scenes were witnessed at the University of Hyderabad on Tuesday as students reportedly broke into the premises of the Vice Chancellor's residence and vandalised his office.
Huge protests erupted in the university on a day when Vice Chancellor Appa Rao Podile rejoined work after nearly two months on leave.
TV news reports showed broken furniture, television sets etc. as students furious over the VC rejoining work went on a rampage.
As per reports, altercation broke out between students and university officials in which some journalists were also injured.

One of the students was quoted by CNN-IBN as saying, "We have been protesting peacefully for two months but now we have lost our patience. Why has he returned?"
P Appa Rao, who was in the eye of the storm over the suicide of a Dalit research scholar, was sent on indefinite leave in January. Vipin Srivastava, the senior most professor, was performing the duties of the vice chancellor.
The university is on the boil after a Dalit research scholar, Rohith Vemula, hung himself in January.
