Structural change: Rahul Gandhi to be leader of opposition

Is Rahul taking over as leader of the opposition a post that is held currently by senior leader Mallikarjuna Kharge?

The Congress is planning some structural changes. The first change that one may get to witness is party vice president Rahul Gandhi taking over as leader of the opposition a post that is held currently by senior leader Mallikarjuna Kharge.

Rahul Gandhi

After a drubbing in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand which was termed as a little setback by Rahul, the Congress is currently in introspection mode. Rahul has been criticised heavily for the leading the party to successive defeats. He also led the Congress campaign in 2014 in which the party secured just 44 seats.

The Congress is likely to appoint him as the Congress Parliamentary Committee president. His deputy would be Jyotiraditya Scindia. Kharge is likely to be appointed as chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee. Rahul is likely to don the hat as opposition leader till the 2019 elections.
