"Varnika is like my daughter, there is no pressure to influence the investigation...Law should take its own course, BJP is a party which believes in women's rights and freedom," he told news agency ANI.

The Chandigarh police on Monday claimed that there were no CCTV footage of Subhash Barala's son stalking the daughter of a senior IAS officer. Then later, the footage was retrieved late Monday night after the police had faced criticism for saying that the CCTVs along the route of the incident were not working.

The footage shows the victim's car being followed by a white SUV. The footage is crucial for the investigation.

The route along which Vikas Barala and his friend Ashish Kumar stalked the victim, Varnika Kundu, daughter of Haryana Additional Chief Secretary VS Kundu, passes through some prominent and busy parts of Chandigarh including the Sector 26 Police Lines.

The incident took place around 12.35am on Saturday. Vikas, who is a student of LLB, and his friend Ashish were booked under section 354 D (stalking) of IPC and 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act (driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs).

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy slammed the police carrying out probe in a proper manner and said he will ask for a CBI probe in the matter.
