Sharda Sinha Death News: Noted Folk Singer Passes Away, Confirms AIIMS Delhi

Sharda Sinha Death News: Bihar has lost one of its most celebrated folk singers, Sharda Sinha, who passed away at the age of 72 in Delhi's AIIMS. She was admitted to the hospital and placed on a ventilator on November 4 after her health rapidly declined. This tragic event occurred shortly after the death of her husband, Brij Kishore Sinha, which had left her in a state of profound shock, further exacerbating her health issues. The beloved singer, renowned for her soul-stirring songs especially during the Chhath festival, leaves behind a rich legacy that has deeply impacted the cultural tapestry of Bihar and beyond.

Sharda Sinha's journey into the world of music began in Samastipur, Bihar, where she was born into a musically inclined family on October 1, 1952. Embracing her heritage, she pursued and obtained a degree in classical music from a young age. Her career kick-started in the 1980s with All India Radio and Doordarshan, where her melodies first began to captivate audiences. However, it was her spellbinding renditions of Chhath festival songs that truly catapulted her to fame, making her a household name.

Throughout her illustrious career, Sinha not only championed folk music in Bhojpuri and Maithili but also left her mark in Bollywood. She lent her voice to several popular tracks, including 'Kahe To Se Sajna' from Salman Khan's 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Taar Bijli Se Patle' from 'Gangs of Wasseypur 2', a film associated with Salman and Anurag Kashyap. Additionally, her song 'Babul' featured in the Madhuri Dixit starrer 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun', showcasing her versatility as a singer.

Her contributions to music did not go unnoticed, as she was honored with some of the country's highest civilian awards. In 1992, she received the Padma Shri, followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2006, and the prestigious Padma Vibhushan in 2018. These accolades are a testament to her unparalleled talent and her enduring influence on the music industry.
