Sharad Pawar and Prithviraj Chavan Analyse Recent Assembly Election Results in Maharashtra

Sharad Pawar, the chief of NCP SP, met with senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan in Karad city, located in Maharashtra's Satara district. This meeting took place a day after the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered a significant defeat in the assembly elections. Chavan mentioned that the meeting was a courtesy call where they discussed the election outcomes.

Pawar and Chavan Discuss Election Results

Prithviraj Chavan, a former chief minister, faced defeat in his home constituency of Karad South. He lost to BJP candidate Atul Bhosale. Chavan noted that since the Opposition lacks enough numbers to appoint a leader of opposition in the assembly, they must address public issues outside the legislature.

Election Aftermath and Future Plans

Chavan has urged Congress leadership to convene a meeting with party leaders and newly-elected MLAs. He expressed his commitment to continue grassroots work and prepare for upcoming local body elections. Balasaheb Patil, another NCP SP leader who lost from Karad North, was also present at the meeting with Pawar and Chavan.

The MVA alliance, which includes Congress, NCP under Sharad Pawar, and Shiv Sena UBT, was reduced to 46 seats. In contrast, the Mahayuti alliance secured a substantial victory with 230 seats in the 288-member assembly.

Chavan also mentioned that tomorrow marks the death anniversary of Maharashtra's first chief minister, YB Chavan. He stated that they would pay their respects at YB Chavan's memorial. "We all will pay our respects to YB Chavan at his memorial," he said.
