The septuagenarian was arrested from his ashram in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at his ashram near Jodhpur, Rajsthan on Aug 15. Meanwhile, more rape charges have been hurled against Asaram and his son Narayan Sai.
Two sisters from Gujarat filed legal case against the duo accusing them of raping them for many years. It also has been reported that Asaram's wife Lakshmi and daughter Bharti used help the duo in taking advantage of the girls. Narayan Sai along with his mother and sister has gone missing since a look out notice has been issued against them.
However, an ad has appeared on a Gujarati newspaper which apparently was released by Sai who overruled reports of him going underground. The ad, that was released on Thursday, say that he is innocent and that he was not absconding in order to avoid being arrested on the charges of rape.
Narayan Sai along with his mother and sister has gone missing
Inspite of the Gujarat police sending summons for Sai to their ashrams and forming six separate teams to hunt him down, Sai has been untraceable.
Initially there were reports that he may be escaping to Nepal, however those reports have not been confirmed. The police had issued lookout notices for Sai fearing that he may flee the country.
