Sadhus Stripped And Assaulted In West Bengal: BJP Condemns, Accuses TMC Of Anti-Hindu Bias
Another showdown between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress has been triggered by the targeting of a group of seers by a mob in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was lashed out at by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya after a video went viral showing a group of sadhus (seers) being purportedly thrashed by a mob in the Purulia district. The BJP IT Cell head, sharing a video of the incident, stated that it is a crime to be Hindu in West Bengal. The viral footage showed a group of sadhus purportedly stripped and assaulted by a mob in Purulia.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Amit Malviya wrote, "Absolutely shocking incident reported from Purulia in West Bengal. In a Palghar kind lynching, sadhus travelling to Gangasagar for Makar Sankranti were stripped and beaten by criminals affiliated with the ruling TMC." Further, he lashed out at Mamta Banerjee's regime where he wrote, "In Mamata Banerjee's regime, a terrorist like Shahjahan Sheikh gets state protection and sadhus are being lynched. It is a crime to be a Hindu in West Bengal."

Who Is Sheikh Shahjahan?
Since the attack on ED teams in the North 24 Parganas district of Bengal, Sheikh Shahjahan, a prominent member of the TMC and local panchayat leader, has reportedly absconded. The officers were heckled and attacked by unknown individuals during a raid against Shahjahan Sheikh and another local TMC leader, Shankar Adhya. Two ED officials sustained injuries in the incident, and their vehicles were also vandalized. The Mamata Banerjee government was targeted by the BJP, alleging the collapse of law and order in the state, while the TMC claimed that locals responded to 'provocation' from the raiding ED teams. The raids were conducted in connection with the alleged ration scam in the state.
