Rs 10,00,00,000...: Woman in UP Refuses to Withdraw ₹10 Crore Mistakenly Credited to Her Account

A woman from Mainpuri has been widely praised for her honesty after she discovered nearly ₹10 crore unexpectedly credited to her bank account and chose not to withdraw any of it.

Rita, wife of farmer Parasbhan Baheliya from Devganj village in the Bichwan area, supports her family through agriculture. On the occasion of Ashtami during Navratri, she visited her local bank to withdraw some money but found the branch closed. She then went to a nearby ATM to check her account balance.

To her surprise, the screen displayed a balance of ₹9,99,49,588 in her account at Bank of India. Shocked by the unusually large amount, Rita checked the balance again at another ATM to confirm it. She also recorded a video of the ATM screen, which later circulated widely on social media.

Despite seeing such a huge amount in her account, Rita did not attempt to withdraw any money. Instead, she asked her family members not to use the funds until the bank clarified the situation. Her decision has been widely appreciated by villagers and people online, who praised her integrity.

When Rita and her family later visited the bank to inform officials about the unexpected balance, the branch was closed due to a public holiday. According to Rishikant Pandey, the incident is likely the result of a technical glitch or a transaction error.

The bank has assured that the matter will be examined once the branch reopens and the incorrect entry will be corrected if necessary. Meanwhile, Rita's honesty has become a talking point in the region, with many applauding her decision not to misuse the unexpected funds.
