Report: Ramesh Bidhuri Faces Replacement In BJP Ahead Of Delhi Elections 2025

Ramesh Bidhuri, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is facing internal backlash following controversial remarks about Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

These comments have sparked discussions within the BJP regarding his candidacy for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. There are reports suggesting that the party may replace him with a woman candidate, though these deliberations are still in the early stages.

Ramesh Bidhuri

Bidhuri, a two-time Lok Sabha MP and three-time MLA from South Delhi has long been a key figure within the BJP. However, his recent statements, particularly regarding Atishi and Priyanka Gandhi, have ignited controversy. In the remarks, which were made during a discussion on the condition of roads in Kalkaji, he controversially compared the smoothness of Kalkaji's roads to the cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi. He also targeted Atishi, questioning her decision to drop her surname "Marlena" in favor of "Singh," referencing her father, Vijay Singh, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The backlash was swift, with BJP insiders confirming that party president JP Nadda had reprimanded Bidhuri for his remarks about Priyanka Gandhi. The reprimand was reportedly issued minutes after his comments came to light. As a result, the BJP has convened at least two organizational meetings to discuss the potential consequences for Bidhuri, including possibly replacing him as the party's candidate for the Kalkaji seat in the February 5 assembly elections.

BJP Considering Female Replacement for Bidhuri

Sources within the party indicated that there have been discussions about finding a female replacement for Bidhuri, although these talks are still preliminary. The BJP is considering several potential women candidates to contest against Atishi in the crucial Kalkaji constituency. This speculation comes after Bidhuri was officially named as the BJP candidate for the seat in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Bidhuri's recent comments echo a series of controversies he has been involved in over the past few years. His derogatory remarks about former Bahujan Samaj Party MP Danish Ali during a debate on Chandrayaan-3 in September 2023 led to significant fallout, including his exclusion from the 2024 Lok Sabha election ticket and a potential spot in the Union Cabinet.

Ramesh Bidhuri's Controversial History

The BJP leader has a history of making divisive remarks that have sparked criticism, including his comments about Ali, which resulted in widespread condemnation. His recent remarks about Atishi and Priyanka Gandhi, however, have intensified the scrutiny on him, prompting internal discussions within the party on his future political prospects, as per media reports.

As the BJP gears up for the Delhi assembly elections, the party's leadership faces the challenging task of navigating internal dissent and public backlash while ensuring that its candidates represent the party's values and priorities. The final decision regarding Ramesh Bidhuri's candidacy remains uncertain, but it is clear that his controversial remarks have put his political future at risk.

With the election just around the corner, the BJP will have to carefully consider its strategy to retain a strong presence in Delhi while managing internal controversies that threaten to overshadow the party's campaign.
