Railways To Start Festive Special Trains From Delhi To Bihar As Diwali, Chhath Puja Nears
As the festive season approaches, many people living in urban areas or away from home for work or studies are planning trips back to their hometowns.
With Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja on the horizon, securing a confirmed train ticket becomes challenging due to increased demand.

To address this, the Railway has introduced festival special trains.
Festival Special Trains for Bihar
Several festival special trains will operate between Anand Vihar Terminal and Barauni, as well as Hazrat Nizamuddin and Patna. These trains will feature air-conditioned coaches for passenger comfort. Additionally, a special train from Sirhind to Saharsa has been announced to cater to travellers heading east.
Anand Vihar-Barauni Weekly Special
The Anand Vihar-Barauni weekly special train will depart every Sunday from 6 October to 17 November at 9 am, reaching Barauni by 6:30 am the next day. The return journey starts every Monday from 7 October to 18 November at 8 am, arriving at Anand Vihar Terminal by 10:10 am the following day. Stops include Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, Kanpur Central, Lucknow, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Ghazipur City, Ballia, Surmenpur, Chhapra and Hajipur.
Hazrat Nizamuddin-Patna Special
The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Patna special train will leave Patna every Monday and Wednesday from 7 October to 27 November at 11:55 pm and arrive in Patna by 4:40 pm the next day. The return trip departs Hazrat Nizamuddin every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 October to 28 November at 6:05 pm and reaches Hazrat Nizamuddin by 10:50 am the next day.
Stops include Govindpuri, Prayagraj, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Buxar, Ara and Danapur.
Officials have noted that trains heading east are particularly crowded during this period. Regular trains often lack available seats for passengers seeking confirmed tickets.
The introduction of these festival special trains aims to alleviate travel difficulties for those returning home for celebrations.
