Revealed! Railways washes blankets once in two months
New Delhi, Feb 27: Beware of using blankets provided in the air conditioned compartment of the Indian Railways as it might have not washed in last 2 months.
Yes, you heard it right. Minister of State (MoS) railways Manoj Sinha admitted in Rajya Sabha on Friday that blankets are washed every two months.

While bed sheets and pillow covers are washed on daily basis, informed Sinha during the Question Hour.
This shocking revelation came when MoS was replying to a question raised by some members in the upper house of parliament regarding the quality and hygiene of linen supplied by railways.
"Blankets cannot be washed every day, which is why an extra bed sheet is provided to every passenger to cover it," said railways in a statement.
"It would be better if passengers are allowed to bring their own linen and pillows for train journeys," said Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari.
"In about two years 85% passengers can get cleaner linen as Railways is setting up 25 more mechanized laundries,"said Sinha.
