Rahul Gandhi Kisses Sister Priyanka In Public: BJP Leader Kailash Vijayvargiya Triggers Controversy

Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya accused Rahul Gandhi of being influenced by foreign culture, sparking controversy. The Congress party condemned these remarks, highlighting the importance of familial bonds in Indian tradition amid ongoing political debates.

Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has stirred controversy by accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of being swayed by "foreign culture." This claim was dismissed by the Congress party. Vijayvargiya made these comments during an event in Shajapur celebrating BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya's birth anniversary. He suggested that Gandhi's actions reflect foreign influences, stating, "India has its own culture, and the nation will progress through it."

Vijayvargiya criticised Gandhi for publicly kissing his sister, attributing this to foreign cultural impact. He remarked, "Today's opposition leader kisses his sister in public. This is the impact of foreign culture, while in our tradition, people do not even drink water at their sister's home." The BJP leader highlighted two conflicting ideologies in India: one safeguarding the nation's culture and another opposing it.

Deendayal Upadhyaya's Legacy

Deendayal Upadhyaya, born in 1916 in Mathura, was a senior RSS functionary and co-founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which later became the BJP. Vijayvargiya described Upadhyaya as a symbol of simplicity and national dedication. "The message of service, dedication and placing the nation above everything else that he gave represents the soul of India and will continue to guide us," he stated.

Earlier in Shajapur, Vijayvargiya performed a 'bhoomi pujan’ and laid foundation stones for road and drainage projects worth approximately ₹2.74 crore. He also inaugurated other development initiatives aimed at improving basic amenities for locals. He praised the BJP government for its relentless efforts to enhance public welfare.

Congress Responds

The Congress party strongly criticised Vijayvargiya's remarks about Gandhi. MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari expressed disapproval during Navratri celebrations, emphasising the sacredness of brother-sister bonds cherished across India. Patwari commented on Vijayvargiya’s language and mindset, saying everyone knows them well.

Patwari accused BJP leaders of frequently disrespecting women over issues like clothing or education. "I feel ashamed to even respond to such remarks," he added. The Congress party firmly rejected Vijayvargiya's claims about Gandhi being influenced by foreign culture.

Vijayvargiya also highlighted Madhya Pradesh's progress under BJP governance at both state and central levels. He mentioned that their "double-engine government" is steadily advancing development projects across the state. According to him, Madhya Pradesh continues setting new standards in public welfare and development.

The ongoing debate between BJP and Congress reflects deeper ideological differences within Indian politics. While Vijayvargiya emphasises traditional values as key to national progress, Congress defends modern expressions of familial affection against accusations of cultural erosion.
