Rahul Gandhi Emphasises Rae Bareli's Uniqueness with Two MPs: Himself and Priyanka Gandhi
During a gathering in Unchahar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi highlighted the unique connection between the Gandhi family and Raebareli. He noted that it might be the only Lok Sabha constituency with two MPs—himself and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He expressed gratitude to party workers and locals for their support in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Gandhi mentioned, "Rae Bareli might be the only constituency in India with two MPs -- one is me and the other is Priyanka. Invite her here too sometimes. She calls me to Wayanad and I go. She is also an MP from Rae Bareli, so you should call her here as well." This statement underscores the family's deep-rooted ties with the area.
Gandhi Family's Political Legacy
The Gandhi family's association with Raebareli dates back decades. Before Rahul, his mother Sonia Gandhi, a former Congress president, represented this seat in the Lok Sabha. Their grandmother, Indira Gandhi, also won from here in 1967, 1971, and 1980. Friends and family members have continued this legacy over the years.
Rahul Gandhi contested both Raebareli and Wayanad seats in the 2024 elections. After securing victories in both constituencies, he chose to retain Raebareli and vacated Wayanad. His sister Priyanka later won Wayanad in a bypoll, further strengthening their political influence.
Commitment to Constituency Welfare
Rahul assured his dedication to addressing issues faced by Raebareli's residents. "Whatever issues you have, whether in Rae Bareli or Parliament, I am always available. Just let me know what needs to be done, and I will get it done," he stated. This commitment reflects his ongoing engagement with local concerns.
After his speech, Rahul Gandhi visited a roadside eatery in Munshiganj. There, he enjoyed samosas while interacting with locals. Accompanying him were Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma, Congress district president Pankaj Tiwari, former MLA Ajay Pal Singh, and other party leaders.
Strengthening Bonds with Raebareli
Rahul emphasized his personal connection to Raebareli beyond politics. "This is not just a political relationship; it is a family relationship," he remarked while wearing his signature white t-shirt and cargo pants. His visit underscores the importance of maintaining strong ties with his constituency.
Currently on a two-day visit to Raebareli, Rahul Gandhi continues to engage with constituents and party members. His presence reinforces the enduring relationship between the Gandhi family and this significant Lok Sabha seat.
