Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Sets June 2026 Deadline for Building 3,100 Stadiums Across Villages

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed the completion of 3,100 stadiums in Punjab by June 2026, investing Rs 1,350 crore to enhance sports infrastructure and engage youth.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed the enhancement of sports facilities in Punjab, aiming to complete 3,100 stadiums by June 2026. This project, costing Rs 1,350 crore, was discussed during a review meeting of the sports and youth services department. The initiative is part of a broader effort to engage youth and combat drug issues in the state.

In addition to the stadiums, Mann highlighted plans for ultra-modern gyms at nearly 3,000 locations and the distribution of 17,000 sports kits valued at Rs 50 crore. A new Yuva Bhawan will also be constructed at a cost of Rs 43 crore. These efforts are intended to provide comprehensive support for youth and sports enthusiasts across Punjab.

Infrastructure and Facilities

The new stadiums will feature essential amenities such as fences, gates, jogging tracks, levelled playgrounds, trees, and volleyball courts. Mann emphasised the importance of completing these projects within the set timeline while ensuring high-quality work. The aim is to create spaces that encourage physical activity and community engagement.

A significant development is the launch of a comprehensive sports portal. This platform will offer various services like player registration, online gradation, event organisation, ground reservation, e-certificates, result recording, and pension or scholarship management. It aims to streamline access to sports-related resources for enthusiasts and athletes alike.

Adventure Camps and Youth Engagement

Trekking, adventure camps, and team activities will be organised in nine forest areas across the state for 10,000 young people. Starting in January, these camps will take place in locations such as Pallanpur, Siswan, Mirzapur Mohali, Tibba Tapria Ropar, Nara Hoshiarpur, and Harike Pattan Wetland Tarn Taran. These initiatives are designed to promote outdoor activities and teamwork among the youth.

The upcoming Yuva Bhawan in Sector 42A will include hostel facilities for 200 individuals. It will also have an auditorium with a capacity of 400 people, along with a conference hall and seminar room. This facility aims to support various events and gatherings related to youth development.

Mann expressed pride in these developments and reiterated the government's commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in Punjab. By providing modern facilities and opportunities for engagement, the government hopes to foster a healthier lifestyle among its citizens while addressing social issues like drug abuse.
