Political Buzz In Punjab: Navjot Singh Sidhu May Return To BJP, Yuvraj Singh Likely For Gurdaspur Ticket

Speculation is rife over the return of Navjot Singh Sidhu to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with reports suggesting that the party is considering fielding cricketer Yuvraj Singh from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency. This move comes in line with the BJP's history of nominating well-known personalities from the region for electoral contests.

Despite Sidhu's recent criticism of the Centre's handling of the farmers' protest and his vocal opposition to the Congress leadership in Punjab, including holding separate rallies, he is believed to maintain a close relationship with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

However, there is buzz among BJP leaders in the Majha region indicating that Sidhu might make a turnaround and secure a BJP ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, potentially from the Amritsar seat, which is considered a stronghold for the BJP.

Meanwhile, the BJP is reportedly contemplating fielding Yuvraj Singh in Gurdaspur, a move that could see the replacement of current MP Sunny Deol. This speculation gains traction from Yuvraj Singh's recent meeting with Union minister Nitin Gadkari.

The BJP has a history of nominating popular figures from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat, with actor Vinod Khanna having served as an MP for two terms from the constituency.
