PM Narendra Modi Calls For Collective Efforts To Make 'Viksit Bharat By 2047' At NITI Aayog's Meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 9th governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog in New Delhi on Saturday. The session focused on strategies to make India a developed nation by 2047. Held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, it included chief ministers and lieutenant governors from 20 states and six Union Territories.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi stressed the need for collaboration between states and the Centre to realise the vision of "Viksit Bharat @2047." He highlighted India's economic progress, noting that it had risen from the 10th largest economy in 2014 to the 5th largest by 2024. "Prime Minister (Modi) observed that India has achieved steady growth in the past ten years. Indian economy, which was ranked 10th largest economy in the world in 2014, has risen to become the 5th largest economy by 2024," a release issued by the NITI Aayog said.

State Contributions and Suggestions
Chief ministers and lieutenant governors shared their insights on various sectors such as agriculture, education, skill development, entrepreneurship, drinking water, governance, digitalization, women's empowerment, and cyber security. Some states also outlined their visions for 2047.
The meeting saw a boycott from states governed by I.N.D.I.A bloc parties except West Bengal. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also did not attend despite being an ally of BJP. Controversy arose when West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee walked out, alleging she was unfairly interrupted during her speech-a claim denied by the Centre.
NITI Aayog's Role
The council is NITI Aayog's apex body and includes all state chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers with Prime Minister Modi as chairman. The meeting highlighted the collective effort needed to achieve India's ambitious vision for 2047.
Modi emphasised India's transformation over the past decade in strengthening social and economic infrastructure. He pointed out that India has shifted from being import-driven to becoming an exporter in sectors like defense, space, start-ups, and sports. He urged states to seize opportunities and innovate in policy-making and governance.
The session underscored how crucial cooperation between states and central government is for achieving long-term goals. Modi encouraged states to adopt best practices and innovative policies to drive progress across various sectors.
The meeting concluded with a focus on collective efforts required for making India a developed nation by 2047. The discussions aimed at fostering unity among states while pushing forward with ambitious developmental goals.
