People shiver even at the thought of naming their kids 'Gayatri': Yogi's dig at ex-SP minister
Adityanath's jibe came during the budget session in the UP Assembly.
Taking a dig at rape-accused former UP minister Gayatri Prajapati, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said people are scared of naming their children 'Gayatri'.
Prajapati, who was the mines minister in the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government, is in jail for allegedly raping a woman and attempting to molest her minor daughter.
Adityanath's jibe came during the budget session in the UP Assembly when the CM, in a veiled attack, alleged multi-crore scams when Prajapati was the mines minister.
Adityanath had in May refused to meet the family of Prajapati at his residence in Lucknow during 'Janata Darshan' programme.
The former Samajwadi Party minister was granted bail by a special court in a rape and molestation case. But the Allahabad high Court stayed the bail granted by Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court judge OP Mishra.
In June, Lucknow Police filed a charge- sheet against Gayatri Prajapati and six others. A Chitrakoot-based woman corporator had alleged that Prajapati and his aides had raped her and attempted to molest her minor daughter in 2014.
On May 15, the Prajapati was arrested and was sent to judicial custody after being on the run for weeks.
