Family Finances Front and Center in Baramati Election: Sule vs. Pawar

In a recent development from the political landscape of Baramati, Supriya Sule, a three-time Member of Parliament, has disclosed owing a substantial amount of money to her sister-in-law, Sunetra Pawar. This revelation came to light through the affidavit submitted by Sule as part of her nomination process. The political arena witnesses an intriguing scenario as Sule, the daughter of Nationalist Congress Party Sharad Pawar's Supremo (NCPSP), is pitted against Sunetra Pawar in the upcoming elections. Sunetra is not only her family member but also represents the ruling alliance and is married to Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar.

Baramati Election: Sule Owes Pawar Rs 35L

According to the details provided in Sule's affidavit, she owes Rs 35 lakh to Sunetra Pawar and an additional Rs 20 lakh to Parth Pawar, who is the son of Ajit and Sunetra Pawar. The financial disclosures were made as both candidates officially filed their nominations for the Baramati Lok Sabha seat. The submission took place before the returning officer at Council Hall, marking a significant step in their political journey.

The affidavit further sheds light on Sule's financial standing, revealing her movable assets to be valued at approximately Rs 38 crore. This includes cash, fixed deposits with various financial institutions, and investments in shares. Her immovable assets are reported to be around Rs 5.45 crore. In contrast, her husband, Sadanand Sule, boasts movable assets exceeding Rs 114 crore.

On the other side, Sunetra Pawar's financial affidavit not only confirms the loan extended to Sule but also mentions a loan of Rs 50 lakh given to Sule's mother, Pratibha Pawar. Sunetra Pawar's own financial disclosure indicates her movable assets are worth over Rs 12 crore, with immovable assets valued at approximately Rs 58 crore.

Adding another layer to this political narrative is Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He has also filed his nomination as a precautionary measure in case his wife's nomination faces any hurdles. Ajit Pawar's declared movable assets amount to over Rs 13 crore, while his immovable assets stand at around Rs 37 crore.

This unfolding story from Baramati not only highlights the intertwining of family and politics but also brings to the forefront the financial dynamics among members of one of Maharashtra's most influential political families. As the election process progresses, these revelations add an interesting dimension to the electoral battle in Baramati.
