Parliament Winter Session 2023: Know Government's Key Agendas, Bills

After registering a thumping victory in the Hindi heartlands, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023, the BJP is all set to take on Congress in the upcoming winter session of the Parliament slated to start today till December 22.

According to the reports, 18 Bills including more reservations for women in Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir assemblies could be key agendas for the government today. The Parliament is also likely to discuss the replacement of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Criminal Code Procedure (CrPC).

Important Bills for Parliament Winter Session 2023:

The reports suggest that the Modi government may propose to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Code Procedure (CrPC), and the Evidence Act with the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Bhartiya Sakshya Bill respectively during the Parliament's winter session 2023.

Appointment of the chief election commissioner and other election commissioners is another pending key bill that is likely to be discussed in Parliament this session.

Before entering the Parliament to attend the winter session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media stating country rejected a negative approach.

PM Modi said, "Rajnaitik garmi badi tezi se badh rahi hai. Yesterday, the results of the four-state elections came out. The results are very encouraging. they were encouraging for those who are committed to the welfare of the common people and the bright future of the country."

Prime Minister also asked the Opposition to shed negativity and participate in debates to form better laws for a bright India.

"When there is good governance, when there is devotion to public welfare, the word "anti-incumbency" becomes irrelevant. You can call it "pro-incumbency" or "good governance" or "transparency" or "concrete plans for public welfare" - but this has been the experience. After such an excellent public mandate, we are meeting at this new temple of Parliament," PM Modi said.
