On Papers, She Is Still My Wife: Anju's Husband Amid Reports Of Her Marriage With Pakistani

The husband of the Indian woman who went to Pakistan to meet her boyfriend has said that they are not divorced yet. Hence, she cannot tie the knot to another man.

"Anju has said she submitted divorce papers in Delhi three years ago but I have not received any summons or notice from the court yet. On papers, she is still my wife. She cannot marry anyone else. The government should get the matter investigated," PTI quoted Anju's husband Arvind Kumar as telling reporters in Alwar.

Anju, who went to a remote Pakistan village to meet her Facebook friend, tied the knot with him after converting to Islam. She also changed her name to Fatima.

However, her husband has urged the government to investigate her passport and visa documents to check if she used fake documents and signatures to travel to Pakistan.

"She did not inform me about for getting the visa process done," he added.

Kumar further claimed that he will file an FIR in the matter once she returns to India.

On asking if he was willing to accept her back to his life, he said his daughter has denied accepting Anju as her mother and it will be difficult for him to settle with her in such a scenario.

When questioned about the assertions that Anju might be mentally disturbed and eccentric, Kumar responded by acknowledging that she would sometimes feel stressed due to work. However, he never anticipated that she would resort to such an extreme measure. Kumar mentioned that theirs was an arranged marriage, and Anju got along well with the children.

Anju (34) hails from Kailor village in Uttar Pradesh but resided in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. In 2019, she befriended Nasrulla (29), a Pakistani national, through Facebook. Anju travelled to the Upper Dir district in the tribal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on a valid visa to meet Nasrulla.
