Ola EV Shares Sink, Kunal Kamra Delivers Another Punchline Aimed At Bhavish Aggarwal

Comedian Kunal Kamra recently took a swipe at Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO of Ola, following a downturn in the company's stock. Kunal's jab came in the aftermath of an online altercation that caught the attention of the public. He humorously remarked that Aggarwal had opted to work on a Sunday only to "prove himself wrong," referring to the CEO's decision amidst a declining performance of Ola Electric Mobility shares. The electric vehicle manufacturer saw its share value plummet by 8%, marking a continuation of its downward trajectory over several trading sessions.

The decline in Ola's shares, which occurred for the third consecutive day and marked the fifth loss in six trading sessions, underscores the challenges facing the company. This downturn in financial health coincided with a heated exchange on social media between Kunal Kamra and Bhavish Aggarwal, which began when Kamra aired grievances over what he perceived as the company's inadequate customer service and refund policies. His initial critique on the platform X sparked a debate that quickly drew attention from both consumers facing similar issues and market watchers.

"Bhavish Aggarwal who thought Sunday should be a working day, Worked Yesterday to prove himself wrong," Kamra said in a tweet. This comment followed a series of online exchanges that highlighted the electric vehicle company's operational troubles. Kamra's criticisms centered around the scarcity of service centers and the company's handling of customer refunds, which have been long-standing issues for Ola Electric Mobility. The public spat further magnified these service-related shortcomings, casting a shadow over the company's customer care practices.

The conflict between Kamra and Aggarwal escalated when the latter tweeted a photo of Ola's Gigafactory, intending to showcase the company's scale and ambition. Kamra, seizing this opportunity, retweeted Aggarwal's post with an image showing Ola scooters lying unused outside a service center, thereby questioning the quality of customer service provided. He tagged Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and the Consumer Affairs Ministry, implicitly asking if this was the standard Indian consumers deserved. Aggarwal's retort was to mockingly invite Kamra to contribute towards improving Ola's electric vehicle services, adding a jibe at the comedian's career.

This public dispute has not only brought to light the operational issues plaguing Ola Electric Mobility but has also stirred significant backlash on social media platforms. The focus on after-sales support, particularly the process of issuing refunds and the availability of service centers, has become a pressing concern for the company. Aggarwal's combative stance in responding to the criticisms has drawn widespread criticism, indicating that the company's troubles extend beyond financial performance to encompass customer satisfaction and public perception.
