BJP MLA Suresh Dhas Raises Concerns Over Community Dominance in Beed Administration
BJP MLA Suresh Dhas has raised concerns about the dominance of officials from a single community in government positions in Maharashtra's Beed district. He suggested that this situation might lead to feelings of neglect among other communities. Although Dhas did not specify which community he was referring to, he emphasised that the current distribution of posts does not align with the expected structure.

His remarks were made following the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, who belonged to the Maratha community. The accused in this case are from the Vanjari community. This incident has sparked discussions about community representation and fairness in government appointments within the district.
Community Representation Concerns
Dhas highlighted that the concentration of officials from one community suggests a deviation from the intended administrative framework. He expressed his views to reporters, pointing out that such an imbalance could undermine the principles of fair governance and inclusivity in Beed district.
The issue has gained attention amid allegations involving NCP leader and state minister Dhananjay Munde. Opposition leaders have targeted Munde over claims that his aide, Walmik Karad, was involved in an extortion case linked to Deshmukh's murder. However, Dhas clarified, "I have never mentioned his name or called for his resignation."
Judicial and Investigation Concerns
Dhas has also taken steps to address legal proceedings related to the case. He wrote to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging the removal of a public prosecutor in Beed. This prosecutor reportedly refused to represent the state when Karad appeared in court after his arrest on December 31.
The BJP MLA further demanded that those arrested in connection with Deshmukh's murder and extortion cases be transferred out of Beed district. He suggested moving them to either Harsul jail in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district or Nashik jail to prevent any potential influence on the investigation.
Allegations Against Minister
Bajrang Sonawane, NCP SP MP from Beed, alleged that Karad was seen at Munde's office in Beed a day after an extortion case was filed against him. Responding to this claim, Dhas stated, "I have no information about it, but if it is true, then the minister cannot remain in office." This statement underscores the seriousness of the allegations and their potential impact on political accountability.
The situation in Beed district highlights ongoing challenges related to community representation and justice. It raises questions about how government positions are allocated and how investigations are conducted. These issues continue to be a focal point for local leaders and residents alike.
