No More Coldplay Concerts! Coldplay Announces Retirement Amid Tickets Black Marketing In India, Will Do only..
Coldplay fans in India are eagerly awaiting the band's performance in Mumbai, scheduled for January 2025. The Grammy-winning group will grace the stage at D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21. Initially, only two shows were planned, but a third was added due to overwhelming demand.
Coldplay's Upcoming Album and Retirement Plans
Chris Martin recently revealed that Coldplay plans to retire after releasing their 12th studio album. In a conversation with Apple Music 1, Martin stated, "We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that's real." He emphasised that this decision ensures high-quality music production. The band has already released nine albums, with their 10th album, Moon Music, set to release on October 4, 2024.

The announcement of Coldplay's retirement has sparked discussions among fans and music enthusiasts alike. Martin explained to People magazine that creating an album involves significant effort and coordination among band members. He expressed a desire to allow his fellow musicians more personal time outside the band.
Ticketing Controversy Surrounding Mumbai Concert
Tickets for Coldplay's Mumbai concert sold out within minutes, leaving many fans disappointed. Allegations of ticket scalping have surfaced, with tickets being resold at exorbitant prices on third-party websites. This led to an investigation by the Mumbai Police into potential ticketing scams involving BookMyShow.
BookMyShow's CEO Ashish Hemrajani was summoned by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) following complaints about fake tickets being sold online. Despite these allegations, BookMyShow has distanced itself from scalpers and advised fans to avoid black market purchases.
Amidst this controversy, there is speculation on social media about the possibility of the concert being cancelled. However, no official statement has been made regarding any changes to the event schedule.
Coldplay's Legacy and Future Collaborations
Despite plans for retirement as a band, Chris Martin assured fans that he and fellow members Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion will continue collaborating on other projects. Martin drew parallels between Coldplay's discography limit and those of iconic artists like The Beatles and Bob Marley.
The anticipation for Coldplay's performance in India is palpable as it marks their return after eight years. Known for hits like Yellow and Sky Full of Stars, their concerts promise an unforgettable experience for attendees.
As excitement builds for Coldplay's upcoming shows in Mumbai, fans remain hopeful that the ticketing issues will be resolved promptly. The band's decision to cap their discography at 12 albums adds a sense of urgency for fans to experience their live performances while they can.
