Nitish Kumar Pays Homage To BJP Stalwart And Former PM AB Vajpayee [Watch]

Despite issues with the BJP and being a prominent face of the Opposition bloc INDIA, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday paid homage to the saffron party's stalwart and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary.

"I came here to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary. I can never forget how we used to work together. He was there when I took oath as the CM of Bihar for the first time," he told reporters after visiting Sadaiv Atal.

Nitish Kumar's JDU had ties with the BJP for 17 years before he ended the alliance in 2014 after the BJP elevated Modi as the Prime Minister candidate. He then joined hands with RJD and Congress to form 'Mahaghathbandhan' (grand alliance).

But that too ended in 2017 when he joined hands with BJP again to form the government. Five years later, he again took a U-turn and renewed ties with the RJD.

After snapping ties with the BJP in 2022, he has been trying to unite opposition parties to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, Kumar is likely to meet Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today.
