(Pics) The first day of Janata Darbar gives Kejriwal a cold sweat
New Delhi, Jan 11: A 400 meter visibility and a temperature of 6.3 degrees did not hinder public appearance on the first day of Janata Darbar. But, chaos and utter mismanagement rendered it short lived, spanning through just 1 and a half hours. There was one more significant of the 'darbar', Kejriwal earned his first public criticism as he could hear just a few complaints and the rest were left unheard.
Agreeing to the mismanagement bit, the chief minister of New Delhi assured the public that he would be back within 25 days with a proper planning for the next darbar. However, amid chaos there were certain issues that came to the fore, majority relating to government offices. Officers visited him with complaints of irregular salaries, promotions and permanency. Some also spoke about the increasing administrative loopholes and corruption.
Interestingly, complaints also included issues related to daily affairs. For instance, a woman sought the help of Arvind Kejriwal to help her get married to her boyfriend who is unwilling to do so. HOusewives complained of power cuts and electricity bills, a few requested to pardon their electricity bills and re-install their meters.
Weird as it may sound, the huge public gathering and their problems proved two things-the immense expectations of the people on the party and the amateur approach of AAP toward them. Let's hope the Kejriwal-led government proves itself...without a sweat.
