Mumbai-Nagpur Highway Sees Bizarre Incident, Over 50 Cars Punctured Due To Iron Board
A chaotic scene unfolded on the Mumbai-Nagpur Highway recently after more than 50 vehicles, including four-wheelers and cargo trucks, suffered punctures after driving over an iron board that had fallen on the road. This incident occurred between the Malegaon and Vanoja toll plaza in Washim district.
The unexpected event led to a significant traffic jam, leaving commuters stranded overnight without assistance. Authorities are investigating whether the board fell accidentally or was deliberately placed there. This incident raises concerns about safety on this high-speed corridor.

Safety Concerns on Samruddhi Highway
The Samruddhi Mahamarg has been under scrutiny for safety issues. In June, a tragic accident occurred near Kadwanchi village in Jalna district, where two cars collided, resulting in six fatalities and four injuries. Such incidents highlight the need for improved safety measures on this expressway.
This highway is a partially operational six-lane expressway stretching 701 km across Maharashtra. It connects Mumbai with Nagpur, the state's third-largest city. The project is one of India's longest greenfield road initiatives and was constructed at a cost of Rs 55,000 crore.
As investigations continue into the recent incident involving the iron board, questions remain about how such hazards can be prevented in the future. Ensuring the safety of commuters on this vital route is paramount to avoid further mishaps.
The Samruddhi Mahamarg's significance as a major transportation link cannot be understated. However, addressing these safety concerns is crucial to maintaining its reputation and ensuring it serves its purpose effectively.
