Modi To Address Rally In Purnea, Bihar, Unveiling ₹36,000 Crore In Development Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Purnea district in Bihar on Monday. During his visit, he will address a rally and unveil development projects valued at ₹36,000 crore. A significant part of his agenda includes inaugurating a newly developed airport terminal in the north Bihar district, fulfilling a long-standing demand for improved air connectivity in the region.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the National Makhana Board. This board was announced in the Union Budget 2025 and aims to enhance production and technology development for Makhana. It will improve post-harvest management, value addition, processing, and facilitate market expansion, exports, and brand development. This initiative is expected to benefit Makhana farmers across Bihar and India.

Focus on Development Projects

In addition to these inaugurations, Modi will participate in Griha Pravesh ceremonies for over 40,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He will also distribute ₹500 crore to women's self-help groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM). These efforts aim to boost rural development and empower women economically.

Security arrangements have been intensified in Purnea district ahead of the Prime Minister's visit. Vehicle movement on national and state highways will be halted for 24 hours starting midnight Sunday to ensure safety during the event. The local administration is taking all necessary precautions to manage the large gathering expected at the rally.

Bihar's Political Landscape

Bihar is gearing up for assembly elections later this year. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aims to maintain its hold against the Opposition's grand alliance. The announcement of election dates is anticipated soon. Modi's visit comes as part of a broader strategy to strengthen NDA's position in the state.

Senior BJP leader and Bihar's deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary highlighted that Bihar has benefited from having a "double-engine government." He noted that Modi has allocated approximately ₹1.50 lakh-crore worth of development projects to Bihar during his tenure. Choudhary emphasized that Monday's announcements would further contribute to the state's progress.

Previous Visits and Initiatives

Modi last visited Bihar on August 22, launching projects worth ₹13,000 crore. In July, he visited Motihari in Bihar, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple projects valued at ₹7,200 crore. These visits underscore his commitment to accelerating infrastructure development in Bihar.

The Prime Minister's upcoming visit underscores his focus on enhancing infrastructure and economic growth in Bihar. By addressing key demands such as air connectivity and supporting agricultural sectors like Makhana farming, these initiatives are poised to bring substantial benefits to local communities.
