Modi congratulates Dr Manmohan Singh for winning Japan's top national award

Tokyo, Nov 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for winning one of Japan's top national awards. PM tweeted,"Matter of joy & pride that Japan has conferred Dr. Manmohan Singh with Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers. Congrats to him."
82 year old Singh was conferred the award for his contribution in the enhancement of relations and promotion of friendship between Japan and India for 35 years. Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko hosted lunch for Singh and his wife Gursharan at the Imperial Palace after the ceremony. Singh was among the 57 foreign awardees named for the 2014 Autumn Imperial Decorations.
Singh, in turn had said that he was truely honored to receive this award and it was his dream to see the India-Japan relationship grow and prosper.
Recently, the current Prime Minister of India-Narendra Modi visited Japan and stressed on the importance he lays on the relationship that both the countries shared.
