Minor girl married off to 61-year-old Omani national for Rs 5 lakh, parents file complaint

In yet another shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was married off to an eldery man Oman Ahmed who is in his 60s. The girl's mother Syeeda Unnisa on Wednesday lodged a complaint in Falakunuma police station in Hyderabad pleading to bring back the girl to India from Muscat.

According to the complaint, the mother has charged her husband's sister and her husband Sikander for getting her daughter married off to a Sheikh who had come to Hyderabad on Ramzan.

She also said that her daughter was sold to him for Rs 5 lakh and the money was paid to Sikander. The Sheikh also said that he would send her daughter to India only if he gets back his money.

It is also learnt that Sikander, had showed the videos of how the minor girl would lead her life in Oman. Sikander also arranged passports for the minor girl to fly to Oman. The mother also complained that she has been threatened by Sikander whenver she asked him to get his daughter back.

This is not the first time such a case has been reported from the city, which is otherwise known for its cultural heritage and close association with Arabs.
