Maharashtra: Ajit Pawar And Sharad Pawar To Unite Again? Here's What NCP Chief's Mother Said

Ajit Pawar's mother, Ashatai, expressed her desire for family unity, hoping for a reconciliation between her son and Sharad Pawar. Speaking in Pandharpur after visiting the Vitthal-Rukmini temple, she said, "I wished that the differences within the Pawar family end at the earliest. I hope Pandurang answers my prayers." This comes amid ongoing speculation about a reunion following the 2023 split in NCP.

Praful Patel, NCP's national working president, referred to Sharad Pawar as a father figure while reacting to Ashatai's statement. He mentioned their visit to wish Sharad on his birthday and expressed hope for maintaining good relations. "Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow, but if at all they come together again, we'll be very happy," he stated.

Calls for Unity

The call for unity within the Pawar family has been echoed by other members in the past. Sunanda Pawar, mother of MLA Rohit Pawar, had also appealed for a reunion between NCP founder Sharad and Ajit. Her appeal was made on December 13, highlighting the family's desire for reconciliation.

Union minister of state for social justice and RPI chief Ramdas Athawale also supported a reunion. He suggested that Sharad Pawar's experience would benefit the NDA government. Athawale remarked, "...The experience of a senior politician like Sharad Pawar will be valuable for NDA govt. He should leave Congress, which did not make him PM, and join NDA."

Speculation and Meetings

Speculation about reconciliation was fuelled by Ajit Pawar's visit to his uncle's home in New Delhi on December 12. Accompanied by his family and senior NCP members, Ajit's visit marked their first personal meeting since the split. The gesture was seen as a potential step towards mending ties within the family.
