Maha: 12-yr-old dies of heat stroke while fetching water

Beed (Maha), Apr 20: A 12-year-old girl died on Sunday here after she collapsed while making her fifth trip to the nearest water pump to fetch water for her house.

Yogita, who was already suffering from dysentry went to fetch water from the nearest water pump which is 500 meters away from her house.

On her fifth trip to the water pump, she collapsed. Doctors who attended to her said that she had died due to heart attack and dehydration.

he girl's uncle told reporters that there is severe water shortage in the region. She had gone to fetch water when she felt giddy and collapsed, he said.

Beed currently reeling under severe drought, has been witnessing temperature above 38 degress Celsius. The city has been sufferring from drought for three consequtive years.

The enitre country is facing extreme heat wave with many states declaring drought. As of now 110 people have died in these extreme weather conditions.
