Lok Sabha Polls 2024: How Many Seats Will BJP Win In Uttar Pradesh? Find Out In This Opinion Poll

Lok Sabha Elections: According to India Today's Mood of the Nation (MOTN) opinion poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to secure a significant victory in Uttar Pradesh, the state with the highest number of Lok Sabha seats, winning an estimated total of 72 out of 80 seats. Conversely, the Congress-led Opposition INDIA bloc is expected to secure only 8 seats in the state.

The MOTN opinion poll suggests that the BJP is likely to secure 70 seats, while its ally, the Apna Dal, is expected to win 2 seats. This indicates an increase of 8 seats for the BJP compared to its 2019 tally of 62 seats, while the Apna Dal's performance remains consistent with the previous elections. Similar to the 2019 General Elections, the Congress is anticipated to win only the Raebareli seat, a stronghold of the Gandhi family. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav is expected to secure only 7 seats, a decrease from its 2019 performance of 15 seats.

The NDA alliance is forecasted to secure a 52 percent vote share in Uttar Pradesh, while the INDIA bloc may receive a vote share of 36 percent. The opinion poll also suggests that the BJP is likely to maintain its 2019 vote share at 50 percent in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, Apna Dal's projected vote share is anticipated to decrease to 2 percent from 3 percent in 2019.

Both the Samajwadi Party and the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are expected to experience a decline in their respective vote shares in 2024 compared to 2019. The Samajwadi Party may secure 30 percent of the vote share, a decrease of 9 percent from 2019, while the BSP's vote share is projected to decrease to 8 percent, reflecting a decline of more than 10 percent from 2019.

Uttar Pradesh holds critical importance for the BJP in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious target of 370 seats for the saffron party and around 400 for the NDA. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA alliance won 351 seats, with the BJP alone securing 303 seats, while the Congress managed to secure only 52 seats.
