'Land of 26 villages acquired for border fencing in Jammu'
Jammu, Mar 3: The Jammu and Kashmir government today told the state Assembly that land of 26 villages of Suchetgarh constituency in Jammu district had been acquired for building fence along the India-Pakistan border.
In a written reply to the question of BJP MLA Sham Lal Choudhary, Revenue Minister Aijaz Ahmed Khan said land of 26 villages in R S Pura tehsil falling under the Suchetgarh Assembly constituency had come under border fencing.
The minister said compensation for the land would be paid to the interested persons after completion of the acquisition proceedings, which "are initiated only after the issuance of 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from the Home Department". He said the acquisition proceedings were under process.
