Lalu Prasad Yadav convicted in Fodder scam, disqualified as MP
Lalu Prasad Yadav reached the Birsa Munda Prison after the court announced its verdict.
A special CBI court here convicted all the 45 people including Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Fodder scam case. Out of these, seven have been sentenced to three years of prison."
The court gave out the verdict and also gave the details of the conviction. Yadav is accused of fraudulent reimbursements from the treasury of the Bihar state. He may face minimum three years to a maximum of seven in prison.
The court will announce its quantum of punishment on October 3. Those who will be sentenced on October 3 are most likely to face jail of four years and above.
He was earlier also sent to the prison in the same case and that time his wife Rabri Devi took charge of the CM post.This is a huge setback for Lalu Yadav, which may also spell the end of his political career.
He will be taken to jail on Monday and is most likely to face disqualification as a member of the Parliment.
Along with him Jagannath Misra is also convicted in the case.
