Kupwara attack: "Wish our MP, MLAs had come sooner to console us"

A day after he was martyred in Kupwara, Naik V Ramana's family awaits his mortal remains. The village of Arivanipallam is drowned in sorrow. The family of the martyr are angry about his death but equally proud of his supreme sacrifice. Their only disappointment is with the local leaders. Neither the local MLA nor the MP has come to visit the family even 24 hours after Naik Ramana was martyred.

Kupwara attack: "Wish our MP, MLAs had come sooner to console us"

"We cannot express our sorrow in words. All of us have gathered here for him. Not a single word of concern has come from the government so far. Neither the MLA nor the MP have visited us or spoken to the family," said Ishwar, Ramana's cousin. Naik Ramana has served for 18 years in the army and joined when he was as young as 20 years old. He leaves behind a son who is now in class 1 and a daughter, a student of class 4. His wife Anitha has been unconsolable ever since she heard of his death. While the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister tweeted condolences over actor Vinod Khanna's death, neither him nor his MLAs have spoken to the martyr's kin, the family claims.

The mortal remains that was to reach the family before 5 PM on Friday was delayed. While the photo ops will begin after the martyr's body is brought down, the family asks if there will ever be a genuine concern.
