Kolkata’s RG Kar Doctor’s Rape-Murder: Victim's Boyfriend Calls For Death Penalty, Suspects Multiple Involved
The boyfriend of the trainee doctor, allegedly raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has called for the death penalty for those responsible. He suspects multiple individuals were involved in the crime. "She was a very good student. She was always into studies. We used to study together in MBBS. She had done night duties in so many roles as housestaff, as an intern. No doctor can imagine that this may happen," he stated.

The tragic incident occurred last Friday when the postgraduate trainee doctor was found dead inside the hospital's seminar hall in north Kolkata. The 32-year-old woman had injury marks on her private parts, stomach, neck, face, and lips. She was a second-year student in the chest medicine department and was on duty the previous night.
Outrage Over RG Kar Case
The alleged rape and murder have ignited widespread outrage across India. Junior doctors and women have been staging protests demanding severe punishment for the accused. The Kolkata police have arrested Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer, in connection with the case.
Following a Calcutta High Court order yesterday, the CBI has taken over the investigation. Sanjoy Roy is now in their custody. The CBI team includes medical and forensic experts who are working to piece together the entire crime sequence from the initial call received by Kolkata police.
The victim's boyfriend mentioned that he had called her at 11 pm on Thursday, but she said she was busy and would call him later. He also texted her around 9 am on Friday but received no response. "I can't even imagine this. I am a doctor myself. I want the highest punishment for the perpetrators. This is not a job of one person. All must be punished. There should be capital punishment," he said.
CBI Investigation Focus
The CBI is also focusing on four friends of the deceased who had dinner with her that night; they were the last to see her alive. Additionally, they will question the delivery boy who brought their dinner.
This case has drawn significant attention due to its brutal nature and has led to calls for stringent measures against those responsible to ensure justice for the victim.
The investigation continues as authorities work diligently to uncover all details surrounding this tragic event.
