Kerala Love Jihad: Present Hadiya before us on November 27, 3 pm says SC
The Supreme Court on Monday observed that there was no need for any investigation into the Hadiya case from Kerala. The court is hearing a petition filed by a Muslim man who challenged an order that annulled his marriage on charges of love jihad. The court directed that the Hadiya be presented before the court on November 27 at 3 pm.
The court also observed that the consent of the girl is prime and in this case she is a major. When the father of the lady sought for an in-camera proceeding, the SC rejected the same. We will speak to her in open court, the court observed.
It was alleged by her father that Hadiya was forcibly converted in what was a case of love jihad. The Kerala HC annulled the marriage following which it was challenged in the Supreme Court.

The court had earlier ordered the NIA to probe if this was a case of love jihad. The court also sought to know if there was any such pattern in Kerala. However during the course of the hearing, the SC sought to know how the marriage between two consenting adults could be annulled. The court had said, 'Love Jihad or no Love Jihad, how was the marriage annulled.
Meanwhile another petition has been filed in the Supreme Court by a parent seeking an NIA probe into the alleged forced conversion of their daughter. The petition states that the girl was forcibly converted through Love Jihad and was being lured into joining the Islamic State in Afghanistan.
The petitioner Bindu Sampath said that her daughter had fallen trap to Love Jihad and this had wrecked havoc in their lives. The petitioner said that when the girl was studying in a dental college, she fell trap to a sinister radical Islamic design.
In its status report, the NIA says that it has recorded the statement of seven other women after it was found that there were some cases of forcible conversion. The case cropped up after the Kerala High Court annulled the marriage of Akhila alias Hadiya. The NIA says that it has not been able to question the lady even once.
