Kejriwal and Atishi Congratulate Rekha Gupta on Her Selection as New Delhi Chief Minister
Rekha Gupta has been announced as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, marking the BJP's return to power in the city after 26 years. Outgoing CM Atishi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal extended their congratulations to Gupta, expressing hope that she will honour the promises made during the election campaign. Gupta was chosen as the Leader of the House in a BJP legislature party meeting.

Delhi's New Leadership
Atishi expressed optimism about Gupta's leadership, highlighting the significance of a woman leading a state. She noted that apart from Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, no other woman currently holds a chief minister position. Atishi also mentioned her expectation that Gupta would soon implement the BJP's promise of providing Rs 2,500 to women.
Arvind Kejriwal took to X to congratulate Gupta, stating, "Many congratulations to Rekha Gupta ji on becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi. I hope she will fulfil all the promises made to the people of Delhi. We will support her in every effort for the development and welfare of the people of Delhi." His message conveyed a willingness to collaborate for Delhi's progress.
Promises and Expectations
Gopal Rai, a senior AAP leader and head of the party's Delhi unit, also congratulated Gupta. He expressed confidence that she would deliver on the promises made by the BJP and continue the work initiated by Kejriwal's administration. The transition in leadership is seen as an opportunity for continuity and progress in governance.
Gupta is set to become Delhi's fourth woman chief minister, following Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi. Her swearing-in ceremony, along with her Cabinet ministers, is scheduled for Thursday at Ramlila Ground. This event marks a significant moment in Delhi's political landscape.
The BJP's victory ends a decade-long rule by Kejriwal's AAP in Delhi. As Gupta steps into her new role, there is anticipation regarding how she will address key issues and implement policies promised during her campaign. The focus remains on fulfilling commitments made to Delhi's residents.
