Kalpana Soren Meets Sunita Kejriwal, Shows Support For Arvind Kejriwal

Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, met Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in New Delhi on Saturday. She is also set to attend the INDIA bloc's mega rally in the national capital against Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. After the meeting, Kalpana expressed solidarity with the Kejriwal family, drawing parallels between the recent events in Jharkhand and Delhi.

Kalpana Soren Meets Sunita Kejriwal Shows Support For Arvind Kejriwal

"Similar to what happened in Jharkhand a few months ago, a similar situation is unfolding in New Delhi now," Kalpana remarked. "My husband, Hemant Soren, was sent to jail, and now Arvind sir has been arrested. I came to meet Sunita ma'am to share our grief. We discussed the need to carry forward our fight, and she assured us of her support. Jharkhand stands with Arvind Kejriwal sir," she added.

Hemant Soren was arrested on January 31 in connection with an alleged land scam. Prior to his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, he resigned from the chief minister's post. Champai Soren later assumed the chief minister's position after proving his majority in the Assembly. Arvind Kejriwal's arrest on March 21 followed a similar pattern, albeit without the dramatic journey that Hemant Soren undertook from New Delhi to Ranchi by car, seemingly outsmarting the ED in Delhi.

While there were speculations about Kalpana Soren becoming the next chief minister of Jharkhand, the mantle was passed on to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's veteran leader, Champai Soren.

Since November last year, Arvind Kejriwal had been avoiding ED summons and had questioned the constitutional validity of the summons issued to him in connection with an alleged liquor scam. On March 21, the ED raided his residence and took him into custody. Since then, the Delhi chief minister has remained in ED custody without relief from the court. The Aam Aadmi Party maintained that Kejriwal would not resign from the chief minister's post and would issue orders from ED custody, leading to further controversy after Kejriwal issued two orders.

Sunita Kejriwal, on the other hand, has been holding regular press briefings and conveying Arvind Kejriwal's message to the public. On Friday, she launched a WhatsApp campaign called "Kejriwal ko Aashirwad," urging people to send their blessings for Kejriwal.
