Jharkhand School Holiday: Orange Alert Issued For Multiple Districts, When Will It Resume?

Due to continuous heavy rainfall across Jharkhand, schools in the Kolhan region are closed today, October 25, as Cyclone Dana brings significant weather disruptions. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in the West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharswan, and East Singhbhum districts, affecting schools in Jamshedpur as well.

Schools in Key Jharkhand Districts Closed

An official directive mandates the closure of all educational institutions, including government, non-government, aided, unaided, and private schools from Kindergarten to Class 12, in West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharswan, and East Singhbhum under the Kolhan division for October 25. The shutdown follows heavy rainfall forecasts and an IMD alert from Ranchi as Cyclone Dana approaches.

In response to the cyclone, educational institutions in Odisha and West Bengal have already been closed for three days. Jharkhand schools are expected to reopen on October 28, but closures may extend if the IMD issues a red or yellow alert. Students and parents are advised to stay updated through official school communications.

The Meteorological Department anticipates more heavy rain across Jharkhand today, especially in southeastern areas. Warnings extend to the southwestern and central regions, with very heavy rain expected Thursday night due to Cyclone Dana. An orange alert is in effect for Friday in the Kolhan region, impacting West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and East Singhbhum districts.

Cyclone Dana's landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Odisha's Dhamra Port is expected to occur from 12:45 am to approximately 6:00 am, with wind speeds potentially exceeding 120 km/h.
